🗳️ County Early Voting Hits 200K Mark

St. Louis County election officials have reported significant early voting numbers ahead of tomorrow’s general election. As of Saturday afternoon, 200,274 county residents had already cast early ballots, representing approximately 26% of registered voters. Early voting continues today.

🌳 New Homes Planned Off Kehrs Mill Road

The Chesterfield City Council has approved a new housing development called The Glen at Kehrs Mill. Developer Hardesty Homes will build 10 single-family homes on a 4-acre parcel that was recently rezoned from non-urban to residential. A new public cul-de-sac will connect the homes to Terrimill Terrace.

📖 SLCL Hosting Writing Month Events

National Novel Writing Month has returned this month to the St. Louis County Library. The library system is hosting writing workshops and setting up dedicated writing spaces at multiple branches to support local participants as they work to complete their novels during the 30-day challenge.

❄️ County Gears Up for Snowy Streets

Last week, St. Louis County launched its winter weather preparations ahead of the cold season. The county's operations team conducted training sessions for snowplow operators, with County Executive Sam Page among the trainees. The program prepared drivers to manage the county's fleet of 115 vehicles, which cover more than 3,100 miles of local roads.

🛍️ Planet Overstock Coming to Eureka

A new discount retail store is opened in Eureka over the weekend. Planet Overstock launched its fourth location at 101 Hilltop Village Center Drive, offering merchandise at up to 50% off regular prices.

🏪 New Scents Arrive in Manchester

Manchester welcomed its newest business this weekend. Bath & Body Works held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday morning at their new location, 119 Highlands Blvd. Dr. Local officials and community members attended the event to welcome the national retailer.

School District Highlights

🏆 Parkway Supr. Wins Character Award

Parkway’s top administrator has received a distinguished recognition for his work in education. Superintendent Dr. Keith Marty was awarded the Sandy McDonnell Dedication to Character Award from CharacterPlus, marking his significant contributions to character education in the region. The selective award celebrates exceptional educational leadership.

🌟 Local Students Earn County Awards

Seven high school seniors from West County schools have been named Outstanding Student Leaders by St. Louis County. The students from Parkway and Rockwood districts were selected based on their volunteer work, leadership roles, and community involvement. They joined more than 50 area students honored at a recent County Council meeting.

Ballwin

🎪 The Pointe Plans Playground Refresh

The Greenfield Commons Playground at The Pointe needs replacement after serving Ballwin families for 23 years. City officials approved a grant application on October 14th to fund new equipment and surfacing. The project, estimated at $400,000, will be funded through a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant if approved.

Creve Coeur

🌱 City Offering Post-Election Recycling

The Creve Coeur Government Center has designated two specific days for election sign recycling. The collection event will welcome both corrugated plastic signs and metal stakes on November 12-13 from 8am to 5pm. Residents can find the clearly marked collection boxes in the rear parking lot of the Government Center.

Ellisville

🔍 Winter Hunt Coming to City Parks

A family-friendly winter activity is underway in Ellisville. The Parks Department is inviting community members to design wooden snow globes that will be hidden throughout city parks for a month-long scavenger hunt. Participants can register for $5 here and collect their snow globes at the Parks Administration Building through November 27th.

🕵️ Police Track Eureka Oil Thefts

A series of cooking oil thefts at Eureka restaurants has led to a breakthrough. Local police identified a suspect after investigating thefts from four locations including Super Smokers and Lion's Choice. The incidents resulted in the loss of 258 gallons of used cooking oil, valued at nearly $1,000.

Manchester

🐔 Manchester Reviews Chicken Rules

Manchester officials have completed a four-month survey about chicken keeping in residential areas. The study collected 651 responses from local residents, with most supporting allowing 5-6 chickens per household. Current regulations only permit chickens on two-acre properties with 150-foot setbacks from property lines.

Twin Oaks

🎄 Toys for Tots Coming to Twin Oaks

Twin Oaks City Hall will serve as the community's newest Toys for Tots collection site. New, unwrapped toys will be accepted during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm, until December 2nd.

Wildwood

🎨 Wildwood Launches Logo Contest

Wildwood is preparing for its 30th anniversary with a citywide logo design contest. The competition, running through November 22nd, offers a $500 first prize and is open to residents, their relatives, and anyone connected to Wildwood through school, business, or community organizations. The winning design will represent the city throughout 2025.

🏛️ Wildwood's Former Mayor Wild Dies at 77

Former Wildwood Mayor John Wild has passed away at age 77 in Bradenton, Florida. As the city's second mayor from 2000-2004, he oversaw major developments including Dierbergs Town Center and the Wildwood Family YMCA. The city will lower its flags today in recognition of his public service.
