🤼 West Newsmagazine Spotlights Wrestling Champ

This week the West Newsmagazine profiled Lafayette senior Andrew Wier, who won the Class 4 state wrestling championship at 190 pounds. Andrew defeated a tough sophomore opponent on his way to victory. Coached by his father Joe, Andrew dedicated his season to his late grandmother and overcame challenges to achieve his dream.

🚒 Ballwin 1st grader's Unforgettable School Commute

Shanley Gibson, a first grader at Woerther Elementary, experienced an unforgettable ride to school in a Metro West fire truck after raising the most money in her school's Kids Heart Challenge. The event, which benefited the American Heart Association, held special meaning for Shanley, whose grandfather suffered a heart attack at a young age. Shanley's impressive fundraising efforts and the support of her loving community made for a heartwarming and memorable experience. Read the full story here.

St. Louis County celebrated 314 Day yesterday by launching a new online merchandise store featuring the county's fresh logo. The shop offers a range of stylish apparel and accessories, perfect for showing off your County pride. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Friends of Kathy J. Weinman Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence Board, directly supporting the County-run Weinman Shelter.

Exciting news for crepe lovers! The French Crêperie restaurant in Chesterfield celebrated its expansion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday. Starting March 18th, the beloved crepe shop will be open seven days a week, serving up delightful sweet and savory crepes inspired by the owner's home in Guadeloupe. With extended hours, you can now indulge in the best crepes in town every day of the week! French Crêperie was even recently feature on Channel 2’s STL Studio show:

🍦 Blue Bell Finds a Home at Dierbergs

Dierbergs had some sweet news to share with ice cream lovers in our area. The locally-loved grocery chain announced that they will start stocking the famous Blue Bell ice cream starting March 19!

Ballwin

🚘️ Ballwin Approves New Manchester Rd Car Wash

This week the Ballwin Board of Aldermen unanimously approved plans for a new Scrubbles Car Wash at 14660 Manchester Road (right next to Jay Wolfe Toyota of West County). The approval came after B&S Equities, LLC made adjustments to their original proposal, eliminating six vacuum stalls and agreeing to add a sidewalk easement. The amended bill, which started as Bill 4185, was passed as Ordinance 24-01, allowing the car wash project to move forward with the agreed-upon changes.

🚓 Kids' Police Academy Coming to West County

This summer, local police departments, led by Chesterfield, are joining forces to offer the West County Youth Police Academy, a week-long program for 7 to 11-year-olds to learn about various aspects of law enforcement. From June 17th-21st, participants will engage in classroom and hands-on activities covering topics like traffic enforcement, crime scene investigations, and police K9s. 🛑 Road Closures, Parking Limits for Play9 Event

This weekend Eureka is welcoming Play9 Sports who are set to host a tournament in Legion & Lions Parks. To manage traffic and parking, the city will place no parking signs in the Shaw's Garden and Eagle Pointe Landing subdivisions, as well as along West and Virginia Avenues in Old Town. Bald Hill Road will be closed between the Lions Park and Community Center parking lots during tournament hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. View the entire bulletin here.

The City of Manchester made a delightful discovery while cleaning out the old Lyceum - cases of the book The Moving Forces in the History of Old Bon Homme. 🧒 Teens wanted for Wildwood's Historic Commission

The City of Wildwood put out a call for two youth members, aged 13-18, to join its Historic Preservation Commission. Selected members will serve a one-year term starting in June 2024, with the possibility of reappointment for up to two additional terms. Interested teens can learn more and apply here.

Valley Park

🏢 Aldermen Upgrade: New City Hall Debut

Valley Park's Board of Alderman will kick off a new era next week by holding their inaugural meeting at the recently constructed City Hall on Crescent Avenue. The sleek venue at 55 Crescent Ave. will host the aldermen at 7:00 p.m. on March 18, marking a fresh chapter for local governance. Residents are excited to see their representatives in action at this upgraded facility:
