🤝 Lawmaker Pushes for a United St. Louis
A new legislative proposal could significantly change local government structure. State Rep. Ian Mackay's House Joint Resolution No. 27 aims to combine St. Louis City and County into one metropolitan government. The plan would need statewide voter approval in 2026 and would maintain existing school districts and emergency services.
🤔 Who'll Be StL County's Next Prosecutor?
A high-stakes legal showdown is brewing in St. Louis County over who has the power to name the next prosecuting attorney. Governor Parson selected Melissa Price Smith, while County Executive Sam Page picked Cort VanOstran to replace Wesley Bell, who's heading to Congress. The court will hear arguments on December 18.
📚 Library Adds NYT Cooking Service
The St. Louis County Library has introduced a valuable new resource for local residents. Library cardholders now have free access to the New York Times Cooking digital collection, featuring over 19,000 recipes and instructional content. The service includes step-by-step cooking guides and technique videos.

🚧 Ladue Road to Close Under I-270
Local drivers should plan alternate routes this weekend. MoDOT crews will close Ladue Road beneath I-270 for bridge widening work through early Sunday morning. The closure will allow crews to install support beams for the expanding interstate overpass, continuing the ongoing I-270 improvement project.

🤝 Major Merger for Creve Coeur Company
Creve Coeur's technology sector is marking a significant change. Daugherty Business Solutions, employing 600 local workers, will merge with CGI, a Canadian IT and consulting firm. The transaction, expected to close this month, will expand Daugherty's services while maintaining its presence in the St. Louis area.

A new nutrition education program is starting at Schnucks Kehrs Mill in Chesterfield. St. Luke's Hospital dietitians will teach participants how to read food labels and make informed choices while grocery shopping. 🎁 Last Day for Fire Station Toy Drive
Today is the final day of Metro West Fire Protection District's Toys for Tots collection drive. Four fire stations are accepting new, unwrapped toys until the end of the day. 🎓 New Leader Takes Parkway's Helm
Parkway has selected its next superintendent following a nationwide search. Dr. Melissa Schneider, currently Assistant Superintendent in Colorado's Thompson School District, will take over leadership in July 2025. She brings 27 years of education experience and a strong record of improving graduation rates and career programs.
📚 Rockwood Maps 5-Year Strategy
Rockwood's Strategic Plan Steering Committee met December 10th for their third planning session to develop the district's direction through 2030. The committee, representing students, staff, and community members from all district areas, is organizing community meetings focused on learning, fiscal responsibility, staff quality, and school safety.

🌉 Allenton Bridge Closes Dec 19
The Allenton Bridge in Eureka will permanently close December 19th due to structural safety concerns identified in a state inspection. While replacement plans exist, construction bids were double the expected cost, leaving the city without sufficient funds. Residents should prepare for new traffic patterns and longer commute times.

🎁 Gift Local: Parks Passes Pack Holiday Fun
Manchester Parks and Recreation is offering gift certificates at the Parks Building this holiday season. The certificates can be purchased in any amount and used throughout the year for various parks department programs, including camps, recreational classes, and community events.

Wildwood
🔄 Local Church Plans Big Move
A planned expansion has turned into a relocation for one local congregation. New Community Church is departing its Wildwood location for Chesterfield, abandoning previously approved plans for additional classroom space, volleyball courts, and pickleball facilities at its Manchester Road property. The move will require Wildwood officials to review the property's zoning.
🏗️ McKelvey's 115-Home Plan Springs Back to Life
The Reserve at Wildwood has overcome its November setback. In a dramatic turnaround, the Wildwood Planning Commission has reconsidered and approved McKelvey Homes' plans for 50.6 acres of prime real estate near Wildwood's town center. Years of negotiations resulted in fewer homes, enhanced landscaping, and stronger stormwater protections.
