🌳 County Kickstarts 25-year Master Plan

STL County is launching a pioneering project named STLCO 2050, a detailed blueprint guiding the next quarter-century. This initiative transcends traditional land-use planning, offering an opportunity to forge a collective dream for a sustainable, fair, and prosperous community. The county plans to engage with citizens, key stakeholders, and regional allies to make sure STLCO 2050 embodies the varied interests and goals of our community. Prepare to join this exciting transformative effort! Explore a summary from the West Newsmagazine here, or delve deeper by visiting the dedicated county website created for this project here.

🏈 Councilman Proposes Using Rams Settlement for Roads

STL County Councilman Mark Harder, whose District 7 covers much of West County, recently proposed using $20 million from the Rams-NFL settlement to repair worn-out streets and potholes in the county. He hopes to leverage the funds to gain additional state and federal money, potentially turning $10 million into $50-60 million for road improvements around the county. The measure still needs approval from the County Council, with a hearing set for tomorrow (March 19).

🚸 Residents Oppose New Parkway Early Childhood Center

A proposed Early Childhood Center in Parkway SD between Wren Hollow Elementary and Southwest Middle School has faced opposition from local residents. At the March 13th Board of Education meeting last week, community members expressed concerns about increased traffic congestion, safety risks for students, and the loss of green space and playing fields. The district decided to schedule a community meeting for March 26th to address the public's feedback and discuss alternative locations for the ECC.

🎉 Community Education Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The Parkway-Rockwood Community Education program is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024, marking a successful decade of partnership between the two districts in providing enriching opportunities for learners of all ages. Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, the program rebounded with nearly 47,000 seats filled across all offerings in fiscal year 2023. Also, in a significant development, the Parkway and Rockwood swim clubs will gradually merge into a single, unified swim club under the Community Education umbrella by August 2025.

On that note if anyone in your family wants to join any summer programs, you can get 10% off if you sign up before April 1. Just use the code SUMMERLOVIN when you sign up for activities here.
