🌿 Cicada Song to Grow Quieter in Coming Weeks

The periodical cicada brood XIX has passed its peak emergence in Missouri and southern Illinois. Most of the insects have already come out of the ground, meaning their song will gradually grow quieter in the coming weeks. The cicadas will stick around until the end of June, with a lifespan of 3-6 weeks above ground. Once this 13-year brood is gone, the region will see the emergence of its annual cicadas, which will hang around until October.

A Missouri appeals court has upheld a ruling that could lead to the city of St. Louis refunding millions in earnings taxes collected from St. Louis County residents who worked remotely for city-based companies. The park once housed hundreds of structures, including the Lone Wolf, a prohibition-era speakeasy with rumored underground tunnels.
