The St. Louis Scottish Games return to Schroeder Park today. Attendees should note that public parking is not available at the park itself. All visitors must park at Manchester United Methodist Church located off Creve Coeur Avenue, where free shuttle service will transport guests to and from the event throughout the day.

💦 Olive Blvd Gets Surprise Fountain Show

Thursday morning’s commute turned unexpectedly damp when a 6-inch water main erupted at Olive and Schulte in Creve Coeur. The dramatic water display prompted police to redirect traffic while Missouri American Water crews tackled repairs.

🚧 South Eatherton Road Closing May 27

The connection between South Eatherton Road and Highway 109 will close for one month starting May 27. MoDOT is completing construction of a new roundabout at the intersection. Residents along South Eatherton Road will maintain access to their homes but must exit northward into Chesterfield Valley. The detour routes drivers via Chesterfield Airport Road and Route CC.

🐱 Second Cat Hoarding Site Discovered

The woman previously charged with hoarding 180 cats in a Wildwood mansion has been found with 39 more cats at a new location. Elizabeth Fischer, who faces elder financial fraud charges, had only been at the St. Louis County rental property for 20 days. The Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force has rescued the cats, which will receive veterinary care before becoming available for adoption.

💰 County Approves Employee Pay Increases

The. 2St. Louis County Council approved raises for approximately 1,700 county employees this week. The $15.3 million annual cost will increase the county's budget deficit to $40 million. County Executive Sam Page stated the raises are necessary to retain and recruit employees, as the county has been spending millions on temporary staffing agencies to fill positions in areas including jail medical staff and building maintenance.

Schnucks has been named a 2025 US Best Managed Company for the fourth consecutive year. 🤝 Pogue Concludes 21 Years of Service

(Now former) Mayor Tim Pogue completed his 21-year service to Ballwin on April 28, including 16 years as mayor and 5 as alderman. During the transition ceremony, colleagues praised his perfect attendance record at city meetings and hands-on leadership. Incoming Mayor Mark Stallmann pledged to maintain Ballwin's status as one of Missouri's safest cities with no municipal property tax.

🌟 Volunteer Leader Claims City Crown

Chesterfield has named its 2024 Citizen of the Year. Resident Kelli Unnerstall received the award on May 5 for her decade of community service. She founded Citizens for Developing Downtown Chesterfield and Preserve Chesterfield, helped establish Logan Park, and leads a mental health nonprofit that has secured $10.4 million for a recovery high school for teens.

🎨 Easels Returning to Creve Coeur Streets in Fall

The Creve Coeur Arts Committee has opened registration for their 2nd Annual Plein Air Art Event happening September 6-11, 2025. Artists will paint outdoor landscapes throughout Creve Coeur during the week. The event will conclude with a public reception at Tappmeyer Homestead in Millennium Park, where paintings will be displayed and available for purchase.

🚧 Conway Road Closed Under I-270

MoDOT has closed both directions of Conway Road beneath I-270. The closure is necessary for safety during bridge construction work taking place overhead. Transportation officials indicate the roadway will remain inaccessible until late this year, requiring motorists to use alternative routes.

🚫 Repairs Begin on Damaged Highway W

Highway W has been closed at Twin River and Boemler Road since April 11 due to a rockslide that left the road unstable. MoDOT began clearing the damaged section on May 8, but hasn't announced when the vital east-west corridor will reopen.

Wildwood

🪵 Wildwood Seeking Input on Historic Cabin

The city of Wildwood is requesting public input about the Essen Log Cabin from the 1800s. Residents can complete an online survey here to share thoughts on what historic sites should be preserved and why. Feedback will guide local decisions on historic preservation throughout Wildwood.
