🧱 Massive LEGO Convention to Return to Our Area
The St. Louis Brick Convention, a massive event for LEGO enthusiasts, is coming back to the Greensfelder Recreation Complex in Queeny Park on August 3 and 4. Attendees can expect to see amazing LEGO creations from professional artists across the U.S., participate in hands-on activities, and meet celebrities from the LEGO Masters TV show. A portion of the proceeds will support Creations for Charity, a nonprofit that buys LEGO sets for underprivileged children during the holidays.
🎟️ St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway: Tickets on Sale
Tickets are now available for the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, offering a chance to win a brand-new, $645,000 home. The 3,100 square-foot residence, built by Fischer Homes, features four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a finished recreation room. Each $100 ticket supports St. Jude's mission to find cures for children, with only 16,500 tickets available and the winner to be announced on Aug. 15.
📰 Post-Dispatch Revisits Six Flags' 1971 Debut
In honor of Six Flags’s anniversary on Wednesday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch shared its original coverage of Six Flags Over Mid-America's grand opening on June 5, 1971. The article detailed the 5,000 visitors who braved the 90-degree heat to experience the park's 18 rides, curio shops, and live entertainment. The Post-Dispatch's look back offers a nostalgic glimpse into the early days of the beloved theme park.
✈️ Air Show Spectacle Returns This Weekend
The Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy's renowned aerobatic team, will headline the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show this Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the Blue Angels, the show features 15 other aircraft, including the Boeing F-15 and P-47. The event, held at Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield, will also offer STEM exhibits, static aircraft displays, and concessions. Read Fox 2’s full summary and maps of the event here.

📰 Post-Dispatch Cuts Print on 9 Holidays
Last week the St. Louis Post-Dispatch announced it will no longer print on 9 holidays, a first in its 145-year history. This comes as Indian media company Quint Digital has acquired a 12.4% stake in the Post's parent company, Lee Enterprises. Lee has implemented a "poison pill" plan to prevent a hostile takeover, as it continues to face declining revenues and print circulation, despite growth in digital subscriptions.
🎨 Get Crafty at Wildwood Green Arts Kid's Club
Wildwood Green Arts is hosting a June Kid's Club event for children aged 5-13. Participants can choose between creating a unique coil vase or mug, or sculpting a big mouth monster from a pinch pot. The pieces will be fired twice and glazed in a color of the child's choice. Learn more here.
🌳 Explore Nature at Endangered Wolf Center Camp
The Endangered Wolf Center has openings for their Sensory Safari Summer Camp in July and August. The camp, designed for ages 4-12, offers a unique opportunity for children to explore nature using all five senses. Campers will learn about wolves and other wildlife through games, crafts, and immersive experiences in the center's forested surroundings. Learn more here.
⚖️ Local Law Firm Merges, Boosts Biz in MO
McCarthy, Leonard & Kaemmerer LC, a Town & Country law firm, has merged with Kansas City's Miller Law Firm. The combination creates a 31-lawyer firm with offices in St. Louis and KC, offering services in various practice areas. The merged firm, now named McCarthy, Leonard, Kaemmerer & Miller, plans to expand its Kansas City office by adding five more lawyers.

Parkway
📚 Parkway Schools Superintendent to Retire
Dr. Keith Marty, superintendent of Parkway Schools since 2011, has announced his retirement effective June 30, 2025. During his tenure, the district expanded experiential learning opportunities, added an Early College program, and adopted a more holistic approach to student support. The school board will determine the process and timeline for filling the position in the coming weeks.
Rockwood
🚀 Rockwood Educators Ignite Leadership Journey
Rockwood has accepted 28 talented educators into its two-year Ignite Rockwood Leadership program. The program, now in its seventh year, provides professional development opportunities for teachers interested in becoming school or district administrators. Participants will engage in direct learning experiences, observe current leaders, and complete a self-designed project.

Chesterfield
🇺🇸 Stars and Stripes 5k/10k & Fun Run on July 4th
The 6th annual Stars and Stripes Runs will be held on July 4th at the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex. The 5k/10k will begin at 8:30am, followed by the Fun Run at 10am. Then, participants are invited to return in the evening for the free 4th of July Fireworks Celebration starting at 6:30 pm. Learn more / register here.
🚓 Chesterfield PD Welcomes Officer Michael Huff
The Chesterfield Police Department is thrilled to welcome their newest member, Officer Michael Huff. Officer Huff recently graduated from the Southeast Missouri Police Academy and Southeast Missouri State University. The department is excited that Officer Huff chose to begin his law enforcement career with them and looks forward to having him as part of their family.

The Creve Coeur Police Department is hosting a fundraiser for Special Olympics Missouri at Chick-fil-A (12398 Olive Blvd.). The event will take place next Tuesday from 11am to 3pm.

🌿 Share your ideas for Bluebird Park's future!
Ellisville Parks and Recreation is inviting the public to share their suggestions for improvements to the eastern portion of Bluebird Park. The meeting will be held at 7pm on June 24 at the Bluebird Park Administration Building. Residents are encouraged to attend and provide their input on the future of the park. Alternatively, residents can also provide feedback online here.

🎵 Concert on Main Returns to Eureka Next Week
Eureka's Concert on Main series is back next week, bringing music and fun to Central Avenue. Local businesses will offer food and drinks for purchase, so attendees are asked to leave coolers and outside refreshments at home. South Central Avenue, between Dreyer and Frisco Avenues, will be closed starting at 2:00 pm, with detour signs posted and parking available nearby for easy access to the event and surrounding businesses.

🎉 Lt. Ed Skaggs Celebrates 35 Years of Service
Last week the City of Manchester celebrated Police Lt. Ed Skaggs for his remarkable 35 years of service as a police officer. Mayor Clement presented Lt. Skaggs with a proclamation to honor his dedication and commitment to making Manchester a great place. The city expressed its gratitude for Lt. Skaggs' three-and-a-half decades of hard work and service to the community.

🚨 Police Chief Will Presents Impressive Report
This week Manchester Police Chief Scott Will presented the department's 2023 annual report to the Board of Aldermen, revealing an impressive average response time of 3 minutes and 22 seconds for both emergency and non-emergency calls. The department surpassed its goal of a seven-minute response time for emergencies. Furthermore, the community has safely disposed of nearly 1,200 pounds of expired and unused prescription drugs through the DEA Drug Take Back program in the first four months of 2024.

🥪 Free Summer Lunches for VP Students
Volunteers in the Valley Park School District are stepping up to provide free lunches for all VP students this summer. Meals will be served every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30am to 12:30pm at three different locations. Children 18 and under can enjoy these complimentary lunches thanks to the efforts of community partners.
