🐶 Three MO Pups Head to Puppy Bowl
The Humane Society of Missouri is sending three rescue puppies to participate in Animal Planet's annual Puppy Bowl event. Astro from Team Ruff and Charlotte and Mardipaw from Team Fluff will represent our area during the February 9th broadcast. All three dogs came to local shelters through different circumstances over the last year.
🏃 Eureka Coach Wins State Honor
Eureka High School health teacher Darrell Lewis has been recognized as Missouri's top girls' cross country coach. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association selected Lewis after he led the Wildcats to their first state championship title this fall, marking a significant milestone for the school's athletic program.

🗳️ County Drops Online Tax Plan
The St. Louis County Council will not move forward with plans for an online sales tax vote this spring. Council member Lisa Clancy withdrew her proposal that would have let voters decide on adding a local use tax of approximately 3.5% to purchases from out-of-state online retailers like Amazon.
🏛️ County Addresses Tax Payment Delays
St. Louis County's Revenue Department is experiencing delays in processing mailed tax payments from December. Officials confirm that all payments postmarked by December 31st will be counted as on-time, and any late penalties showing online will be removed once payments are processed.
🚨 County Warns of Jury Duty Phone Scam
The St. Louis County Circuit Court has issued an alert about an ongoing phone scam. Individuals claiming to be court officials are calling residents and demanding payment for missed jury duty. The callers threaten arrest if immediate payment isn't made through prepaid debit cards.

🎳 West County Lanes in Need of Community Help
Winter weather has forced West County Lanes in Ellisville to close temporarily. The bowling alley's roof structure was damaged by ice and snow accumulation, requiring immediate repairs. While engineers have confirmed the building can be fixed, insurance delays and financial challenges have prompted the 60-year-old business to seek community support.
🍗 New Indian Restaurant Coming to Clayton Rd
A new Indian restaurant focusing on butter chicken will open this spring in Chesterfield. The Butter Chicken Spot, created by the family behind Taj Palace, will serve both traditional and plant-based versions of their signature dish, along with weekly rotating specials and fusion offerings.
📦 Distribution Center To Reduce Staff
Power management company Eaton Corporation has announced workforce reductions at their Ellisville location. The company will lay off 57 employees at their Bussmann distribution center between April 25 and June 30. Ellisville's mayor is working to provide affected employees with information about job opportunities and training through county and state programs.
🎡 STL Wheel's Groundhog Day Special
On February 2nd, families can enjoy multiple rides for the price of one downtown at the St. Louis Wheel. The 200-foot observation wheel at Union Station will operate from 10am to 8pm, providing 20-mile views of the city skyline. Children under 2 ride free.

🏈 Adult Flag Football Starts This Spring
The Eureka Parks Department is expanding its adult sports programming. A new flag football league will play Sunday nights at the Soccer Park's turf field starting March 30th. Team registration opens February 1st through the city's CivicRec platform here for all interested players.

🥶 Support MPD's Special Olympics Plunge
The Manchester Police Department is counting down to their February 15th Polar Plunge challenge. The department is currently collecting donations for their plunge into Creve Coeur Lake, with all proceeds supporting Special Olympics Missouri. Officers aim to set a new fundraising record among participating organizations.
