🚚 MoDOT Partners With Highway Patrol
MoDOT St. Louis and the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C have formed a partnership to reduce litter on state highways in and around our area. At a Monday press conference, officials revealed MoDOT spent $12 million in 2024 collecting more than 8,000 tons of roadside litter. The Highway Patrol is conducting a special saturation patrol through May 10 to ensure vehicle loads are properly secured.
🏙️ Lawmaker Proposes City-County Merger
A new proposal to merge St. Louis City with St. Louis County has emerged in Jefferson City. Democratic Representative Ian Mackey's House Joint Resolution 27 follows the approach of the previous Better Together organization. Committee Chairman Brad Christ stated he won't advance the bill this year but remains open to discussions about the region's future.
🔥 County Plans Employee Relocation By 2027
St. Louis County's administration building does not meet current fire code requirements. Officials must install a new sprinkler system by 2027 or vacate the building entirely. County leaders are working to find temporary space for hundreds of employees while also addressing the need for an independent power supply for the jail, courts, and police headquarters.

🌪️ Soccer Complex Scores $1M for Repairs
The Creve Coeur Park Soccer Complex is set to receive $1 million from the Explore St. Louis Board for restoration. The funds will specifically replace lighting for nine soccer fields damaged by the March 14 tornado. Total damage to the complex exceeds $8 million, with contractors already working on replacing 13 synthetic turf fields. Though, the St. Louis County Parks Department expects to resume operations by mid-June.
🍺 Beer Fest Returns to Schroeder Park Next Weekend
The Manchester Craft Beer Festival will be held next week (5/10) at Schroeder Park. The event will feature samples from more than 20 breweries, music by The Johnny Henry Band, and desserts from Lily's Cafe Dessert Truck. Admission costs $30 in advance or $40 at the door, including unlimited tastings and a souvenir glass. Learn more / purchase tickets here.

🌽 Brookdale Farms Market Debuts May 10
The season-opening farmers market at Brookdale Farms has been rescheduled to May 10th (next weekend). The market will now run simultaneously with the farm’s Spring Days event from 10am-2pm, featuring over 100 vendors.

Tacos 4 Life in Ballwin has announced a special promotion for May. Loyalty program members who purchase a large queso on May 5th will receive a free small queso added to their account every day for the remainder of the month. Customers need to download the Tacos 4 Life app to join the loyalty program and qualify for the offer.

🏆 Ballwin Wins 6th Silver Shovel Award
Ballwin's Public Works Department continues to demonstrate exceptional safety standards. For the sixth consecutive year, they've received the Spire Silver Shovel award for having no gas line damages while using Missouri's 811 One Call system. Only three municipalities have received this recognition since the award was established.

🏘️ Two Housing Projects Approved in Chesterfield
The Chesterfield City Council has approved two new residential developments. The Audere II project will add a 16-unit condo building in Wildhorse Village with a 32-space internal parking garage, mirroring the design of the original Audere building. Additionally, a project called the BluOnx Development received approval to build 81 single-family homes on a 29.4-acre former nursing home site north of Olive Boulevard.

Creve Coeur has published their May 2025 newsletter for residents. The monthly publication details the Council's ongoing review of the proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget, announces MoDOT's plans to resurface Olive Boulevard in late summer, and more. Read it online here.

Ellisville
🐕 Pups Party at Ellisville's Bark Bash
Ellisville Parks and Recreation is hosting its Bark in the Park today at Bluebird Park from 10am-12pm. The free event includes raffles for dog park memberships, a photo area, and giveaways. Non-members need to bring proof of vaccinations for Rabies, Bordetella, and spay/neuter documentation to participate.

♻️ City Collects 219 Pounds of Plastic Bags
Manchester has collected 219 pounds of plastic bags and film in their recycling challenge. The city needs to reach 1,000 pounds by January 1, 2026, to receive a park bench made from recycled materials. Residents can drop off plastic bags at any of City Hall, Justice Center, or Parks Building to help reach the goal.

Wildwood
🏛️ Wildwood Seeking Input on Historic Sites
Wildwood is developing its first Historic Preservation Plan and needs community input. The city has launched a 5-minute survey running through May 23 to identify which historic buildings and landmarks residents value most. The survey will help guide preservation efforts for sites like Route 66 landmarks, historic schools and churches while supporting local businesses and tourism. Take the survey online here.
🚧 Al Foster Trail Closing May 5-8
The Al Foster Trail in Wildwood will be partially closed for maintenance. Portions of the trail will be unavailable from Monday, May 5 through Thursday morning, May 8, 2025, as the State of Missouri performs necessary trail work.
