A dramatic 30-degree temperature decrease over the weekend created conditions for frost quakes across the area. The National Weather Service received numerous reports of these geological events, which occur when freezing groundwater expands in the soil, creating pressure that releases with a distinctive popping sound. Unlike earthquakes, these events don't register on the Richter scale.
🎸 Local Music Icon Bob Kuban Dies at 84
Bob Kuban, whose career spanned from the S.S. Admiral to American Bandstand, died Monday at age 84. The St. Louis musician led Bob Kuban and the In-Men to Billboard success with "The Cheater" in 1966. While achieving national recognition, he continued teaching music at Bishop DuBourg High School and performing at local venues.
🏊 Child Rescued at Eureka Hotel Pool
Fast action by family members saved a young girl's life at a Eureka hotel pool last Friday. Eight-year-old Kaylyn Posey was rescued from the bottom of the Holiday Inn pool by her mother, while her CPR-certified aunt provided crucial rescue breaths. Kaylyn has since made a full recovery at St. Louis Children's Hospital.

The student body president recently earned a spot in the prestigious U.S. Senate Youth Program, joining just one other Missouri student for a week-long deep dive into federal government operations in Washington, D.C. this March.

Future phases will connect to Valley Park Fire District Station 2 and improve access throughout Meramec Station Road.

🏠 Historic Essen Cabin Ready for Comeback
Nearly a decade after its dramatic disappearance during Thanksgiving week, Wildwood's historic Essen Log Cabin is poised for resurrection. The 1870s structure, originally built by early area settlers, was recovered by police after being mysteriously dismantled and stolen in 2015. Now, the city is seeking contractors to rebuild this piece of local history.

📚 VPHS Students Complete Mock Trial Project
Valley Park High School's Criminal Law students recently completed their semester-long mock trial project. The class divided into prosecution and defense teams to investigate a first-degree murder case. Students prepared opening statements, questioned witnesses, and presented evidence to a jury composed of school staff members.
