🚨 Eureka Police Pioneer New 911 Texting System

The Eureka Police Department has become one of the first in St. Louis County to implement PowerEngage, a new text-message system for 911 calls. The system sends follow-up texts to callers, providing instructions while officers are en route and requesting feedback after the interaction. EPD aims to enhance transparency and improve service through this innovative approach.

🚒 Monarch FPD Seeks Community Input on EMS Needs

The Monarch Fire Protection District recently held community workshops to address the increasing demand for EMS services and rising operational costs. The fire district, which serves over 80,000 residents across several municipalities, has seen EMS calls rise to 72% of total calls in 2023. Monarch FPD presented three options to residents, including potential tax increases to fund additional ambulances and staff, with the goal of reducing wait times and improving service. 💰 $1,000/Week for Life Won at Chesterfield 7-Eleven

A lucky Missouri Lottery player purchased a winning Cash4Life ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 13491 Olive Boulevard in Chesterfield. The ticket matched all five white-ball numbers drawn on May 1, earning the winner $1,000 a week for life. The winner can choose between a lump-sum option of $1 million or an annual installment of $52,000.

🎓 Eureka Senior Receives MWFCO Scholarship

Metro West Firefighters Community Outreach (MWFCO) recently surprised Sophia Gagnepain, a talented Eureak high school senior, with a scholarship. Sophia's impressive leadership skills and commitment to serving others set her apart. Her essay, emphasizing the importance of service instilled by her family's guidance, made a lasting impact on the selection committee.

🎲 New Board Game Library Opens in Eureka

Jourdin and Tristen Somers just opened the Black Cat Board Game Library in Eureka, offering over 100 games to play for $5 per person. The couple, who previously worked at La Finca Coffee, aims to create a fantasy-inspired hangout spot for gamers of all ages. In addition to classics like Monopoly and new favorites like Everdell, the library plans to host event nights including trivia, miniature painting, and game testing sessions.

🛒 Schnucks to Close Eatwell Market in Chesterfield

Schnuck Markets has decided to discontinue its Eatwell Market banner, affecting stores in Chesterfield and Columbia, MO. The Chesterfield location will close on June 2, while the Columbia store will be converted to a traditional Schnucks. All employees will retain their jobs and be transferred to nearby Schnucks stores.

Parkway

🌟 Five Parkway Seniors Awarded Merit Scholarships

Five exceptional Parkway students have been awarded prestigious National Merit scholarships. Ajay Eisenberg and Michael Emerson received corporate-sponsored scholarships, while Matthew Wehling, Rajeshwar Jaladi, and Serena Liu were each awarded $2,500 scholarships. These students were chosen from a pool of over 15,000 outstanding finalists nationwide, recognizing their impressive accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

Rockwood

🏈 Rockwood Sends 112 Athletes to College Teams

In April, Rockwood celebrated the achievements of 32 student-athletes during spring athletic signing day ceremonies. This brings the total number of Rockwood students signing on to play college sports this school year to 112, representing 15 different sports. The athletes, joined by family, friends, and coaches, will be heading to 26 different colleges and universities to continue their academic and athletic journeys.

🏅 Rockwood Students Named Scholar Athletes

Four Rockwood high school students have been honored as Scholar Athletes by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Bailey Boulay (Eureka), Natalie Barnard (Lafayette), Mia Scanlon (Marquette), and Katie Jundt (Rockwood Summit) were recognized for their outstanding achievements in athletics, academics, and good standing in their schools.

Ballwin

👮 Selvidge SRO's Term Sparks Community Outcry

A large crowd rallied at the Ballwin Government Center to support Officer Mike Reynolds, the popular School Resource Officer at Selvidge Middle School who faces reassignment due to term limits in the police union contract. Despite community petitions and appeals from school officials to keep Reynolds at Selvidge, city leaders say their hands are tied until the contract is renegotiated in 2026. The term limits, which also apply to other specialized police roles, were put in place to allow more officers the opportunity to serve in these positions.

Chesterfield

🌿 Railroad Park to Expand with Donated Land

The Chesterfield City Council has approved two land deals - the sale of nearly 17 acres at 17159 Edison Avenue for $500,000 and the acceptance of a 15.9-acre parkland donation next to Railroad Park. The land being sold, located south of Lowe's in Chesterfield Commons, was determined to be in excess of the city's stormwater management needs. The donated land, covered by a conservation easement, will provide contiguous access to Railroad Park from the west. Read more here.

🎂 Creve Coeur K9 Officer Frizbi Turns 5!

Creve Coeur's first K9 Officer, Frizbi, recently turned 5. The Creve Coeur Police Department honored Frizbi's three years of dedicated service with a heartfelt Facebook post, wishing him a great day off filled with quality time with his handler, Officer Lane, and his fur family.

🌞 City Offering Student Memberships at The Timbers

The city of Eureka is currently selling special summer memberships to The Timbers for students aged 16-24. The 90-day passes cost $72 for residents and $97.50 for non-residents, and can be purchased through August 1 with a valid student ID.

🏗️ Eureka City Hall Construction Advances

Construction on Eureka's new city hall is well underway. Tristar Electric has completed over 5,000 feet of underground conduit for power and systems, while Waddell Concrete is poured the first concrete building pad:

🏖️ Make a Splash with Swim / Snorkeling Lessons

Manchester Parks and Recreation is offering a variety of swim lessons for children, catering to busy schedules. For those looking for a unique aquatic experience, an introductory snorkeling session is also available, teaching the basics of using snorkeling equipment, and participants will put their skills to the test in a fun treasure hunt in the lazy river.

🚸 Manchester Approves New School Zone Bill

The Manchester Board of Alderman has passed a bill establishing a School Zone near Wren Hollow Elementary and Parkway Southwest Middle schools. The new ordinance sets a speed limit of 20 miles per hour in the designated area, effective Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm. Enforcement of the School Zone speed limit will begin on June 5.

Wildwood

💬 Wildwood Seeks J-Turn Feedback on May 14

As a reminder, Wildwood will host its next open house session on the proposed Route 100 J-Turn Improvement Project tomorrow from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at the Wildwood Municipal Building. Residents can drop by to view project plans, discuss the improvements with city staff and engineers, and provide written feedback. The project aims to enhance safety at intersections along Route 100.
