Lone Elk Park in Valley Park has announced the birth of two baby calves this week – an elk calf and a bison calf. The new arrivals coincide with the start of calving season, which typically runs from mid-May to June. Visitors to the 546-acre park can also spot other wildlife, including wild turkeys, waterfowl, and deer, but are advised to keep a safe distance from the protective mothers and their well-hidden babies.

📝 Rockwood Kicks Off Strategic Plan with Community

Rockwood held a Strategic Plan Kick-Off meeting on May 21, engaging nearly 30 community members in shaping the district's next five-year plan. Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain provided updates and attendees shared their visions for Rockwood's future. 🐶 Ballwin Introduces Bill to Regulate Pet Daycares

The Ballwin Board of Aldermen reviewed a new bill to regulate pet daycare and boarding facilities at their May 13 meeting. The bill includes requirements for soundproofing, odor control, and minimum distances from residential areas. While there was some debate over the specifics, the bill ultimately passed unanimously. It aims to balance the needs of pet facilities with quality of life for nearby residents.

Chesterfield

🌳 Chesterfield's Tree Team Inspects 677 Trees

Chesterfield's City Arborist and their team have conducted 677 street tree inspections this year to ensure the health and safety of the City's urban forest. As a result, 416 trees, including 261 dead, declining, or hazardous trees and 155 large Ash trees, have been removed.

Creve Coeur

🎉 Creve Coeur's Millennium Park Set to Reopen!

Creve Coeur's Millennium Park is set to reopen in two Fridays on June 7 after undergoing a $2.5 million renovation funded by the parks and stormwater sales tax. The project includes an expanded playground, splash pad, bandstand, and entry plaza. The community is invited to celebrate the grand reopening on Thursday, June 13 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6pm and live music by the RetroNerds from 6:30-8:30pm.

Ellisville

🏓 Pickleball Mania Hits Ellisville This June

Starting June 3, the city of Ellisville will offer Beginner Pickleball sessions every Monday and Wednesday. For those interested in doubles play, the city will also host sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning June 4. Learn more / register here.

Eureka

☀️ Timbers Pool Ready for a Splashing Summer!

The Timbers outdoor pool has undergone renovations just in time for the summer season. Improvements include a resurfaced pool, updated play features, and an expanded pool deck with new picnic tables, chairs, and lounge chairs. The city spent approximately $128,000 on the project, with funds coming from the Storm Water/Parks sales tax. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for tomorrow from noon to 2pm. 🏃‍♂️ Special Olympics Torch Run Lights Up Eureka

The Eureka Police Department hosted the Special Olympics Missouri Torch Run today at 8am. Local law enforcement from Chesterfield, Crestwood, Washington, and Ballwin, along with Eureka Police Officers and Alderman Jerry Diekmann and his family, participated in the run to raise money for Special Olympics. The funds raised allow athletes to compete in various events, making their dreams come true.

Town & Country

🚨 Town & Country PD Joins "Click It or Ticket"

The Town & Country Police Department is participating in the statewide "Click It or Ticket" campaign from May 20 to June 2. The initiative aims to enforce Missouri's seat belt law, as more than 60% of people killed in 2023 Missouri traffic crashes were unbuckled. Despite improvements in seat belt usage over the past five years, Missouri's 88.87% usage rate remains slightly below the national average of 91.6%.

Wildwood

🌽 Wildwood Farmers Market Returns Tomorrow!

As a friendly reminder: the Wildwood Farmers Market is back tomorrow, offering locally-sourced ingredients and ready-to-eat treats. The market will be open 8am-12pm in Town Center.

🌳 Wildwood Addresses Crestview Drive Concerns

Wildwood city officials have addressed residents' concerns about using Crestview Drive as a walkway in the Village Green project. The city has committed to removing any natural connections to Crestview Drive and ensuring that public access will not be advocated. Phase one of the project, which includes preliminary grading, access and utility installations, and the construction of a performance stage, oval, Essen Log Cabin, and Mayors' Grove, is expected to begin in the coming weeks.

Valley Park
