🚪 Prop S Funds Parkway North HS Entrance Upgrade
Parkway North High School, the final high school in Parkway to receive a security upgrade, is set to begin construction on a new entrance project. Funded by Proposition S, the $28 million renovation will take place over two years and include classroom additions and a pool renovation, with the secure entrance slated to open in fall 2026.
💰 $600K More for Senior Property Tax Relief
The St. Louis County Council has taken a significant step towards implementing the senior citizen property tax freeze program. Yesterday the council approved an additional $600,000 to cover start-up costs, including software and staff, and adjusted the program to comply with recent changes in state law, such as lowering the minimum age of eligibility to 62.
💊 Narcan Saves St. Louis County K9 Officer
K9 Theo, a St. Louis County police dog, recently experienced a close call when he ingested drugs during a search. His handler, Officer Bashaw, promptly gave Theo two doses of Narcan and sought emergency care at Veterinary Specialty Services in Manchester. After receiving treatment, Theo recovered and resumed his duties, demonstrating the resilience of these dedicated working dogs.
💰 Two Additional Employees Caught in County Pay Probe
St. Louis County Executive Sam Page has revealed that at least two more County Council employees, in addition to the County Auditor, have received unauthorized salary increases. Page has initiated an investigation into the matter and has requested all relevant documents from his director of administration. The raises were allegedly approved solely by the Council Chair without the required full council consideration.

🚨 Lawsuit Sheds Light on Kohn's Closure
New details have emerged regarding the recent closure of Kohn's Kosher Deli in Creve Coeur. An Illinois food distributor has filed a lawsuit against the deli, alleging nearly $150,000 in unpaid transactions from March and April. The legal action sheds light on the financial difficulties that may have contributed to the beloved establishment's unexpected shuttering.

🎅 Chesterfield Bringing North Pole to Pool
Christmas is coming early to the Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center this Friday, July 26! Kick off the day with a holiday-themed Tot Time for kids 0-5, then enjoy festive activities throughout the day. Cap off the evening with a free Dive-In Movie screening of The Polar Express and complimentary snow cones, in partnership with the Monarch Fire Protection District.

🚧 Route 100 Refresh: Expect Overnight Delays
Attention late-night drivers: Route 100 is getting an upgrade! Crews have started work resurfacing the road between Lindbergh and I-270. The project, which is expected to last five weeks, will involve overnight lane closures and potential 10-minute traffic stops.

🏊 A Splash of Progress at Eureka's Timbers
The Timbers is making progress on its renovation project. The men's locker room has reopened, though some minor work remains. Women's facilities and the family restroom are still under construction, with completion expected in about two weeks. Improvements include new flooring, paint, fixtures, and updated plumbing and showers.
🍎 Crescent School: End of a County Era
This week the Eureka Historical Society unearthed a gem from the past. Eureka's Crescent School on Lewis Road was the last of its kind, the last single-room school in St. Louis County. Its closure, reported by the Post-Dispatch on July 20, 1958, ended the one-room schoolhouse era in St. Louis County.
