🏴 Kilts & Cabers Coming to Manchester
The St. Louis Scottish Games will take place this Saturday (5/17) from 9am-5pm at Schroeder Park in Manchester. The festival will feature traditional bagpipe music, athletic competitions, sheep herding demonstrations, and other Scottish cultural elements for the whole family to enjoy. 🛣️ Settlement Reached on Chesterfield Wedge Development
Chesterfield is moving forward with development at "the Wedge" intersection of Olive Street and Chesterfield Airport Road. The Planning Commission voted 9-0 to approve modifications that remove contested requirements from a 2017 lawsuit by Energy Marketing. The changes will eliminate the no-left-turn provision, barrier median requirement, and reduce structure setbacks from 30 to 15 feet.
👀 Highway Patrol Adds Stealth Vehicles
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is adding "ghost graphics" to some of their vehicles. These new markings are designed with low-visibility features that blend into the vehicle during daylight hours but reflect at night when illuminated. The patrol states these modified vehicles will help monitor dangerous driving behaviors. Although, no specific date has been announced for when these vehicles will begin service.

🚗 Bridge Lane Shift Now in Effect on I-64
The Boone Bridge lane configuration has changed. Since Friday evening, two westbound I-64 lanes have been shifted to the eastbound bridge, with one westbound lane remaining on the westbound bridge. MoDOT implemented this temporary change to allow crews space for repainting the westbound truss. Three lanes remain open in each direction, with all lanes narrowed to 11 feet.

🛒 Aldi Coming to Eureka After Tax Deal
The Eureka Board of Aldermen recently voted 5-1 to approve a property tax abatement for a new Aldi grocery store. Construction is now underway with potential opening by year's end. The Chapter 100 abatement will provide $1.4 million in tax relief over 20 years to help offset $2.3 million in site preparation costs, as the store requires building into a hill with a 15-foot retaining wall.
🚭 Six Flags Goes Smoke-Free
Six Flags St. Louis has implemented a no-smoking policy throughout the park grounds. The Eureka attraction's decision has received mixed reactions from visitors, according to FOX 2. Park officials explained the change came in response to customer feedback about enhancing the overall experience.
🏥 Mercy Tests New Ideas for Better Care
Mercy Hospital has created an Innovation Unit that allows employees to submit ideas for improvement. The 92-member team then tests these suggestions before implementing successful ones systemwide. Recent improvements include a modified call button alert system and a visual medication tracking method that has reduced discharge waiting times.
🧸 Sesame Street Comes to The Hub STL Today (5/13)
A free morning activity is available today at The Hub STL. From 11am-12pm, families can attend the Sesame Street-themed "Toddlers and Tunes" event. Children can participate in bubble play, coloring activities, and dancing in this open-format program presented by Fun 4 STL Kids.

🏆 Lafayette Senior Earns Scout Gold Award
A Lafayette High senior has earned Girl Scout's highest honor. Grace Doherty received the Girl Scout Gold Award for organizing a community health expo that provided screenings and preventative care information. Her project included coordinating with healthcare professionals across multiple disciplines, establishing a blood drive with ImpactLife, and creating a website for health resources.
🏫 Rockwood Finalizes 5-Year Plan
The Rockwood Strategic Plan Steering Committee met for the final time on April 29th to review community feedback on the district’s 2025-2030 Plan and Promise. The committee made final adjustments before the plan heads to the Board next month. Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain presented over 30 committee members with Community Service Certificates to recognize their contributions to the district's future.

Creve Coeur
🏞️ Venable Park Renovation Now Underway
Construction began yesterday (5/12) at Venable Memorial Park in Creve Coeur following council approval of a $2.3 million contract. The project includes a renovated entrance, wider walking paths, and improved stormwater management. A new playground for ages 2-5 will be added, while the existing pavilion will be relocated to make room for a Memorial Plaza.

🏃 Manchester PD Runs for Special Olympics
Manchester police officers will participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics in the coming weeks. The event raises money and awareness for Special Olympics Missouri sports programs. Community members can purchase commemorative T-shirts at the Justice Center, priced at $15 for sizes S-2XL and $20 for sizes 3X-6XL.

🏛️ Reminder: Historic Preservation Needs Your Input
As a reminder, Wildwood is developing its first citywide Historic Preservation Plan. Residents are encouraged to complete a five-minute survey by May 23 online here. The survey is separate from the city’s recent Master Plan Update and will directly guide the Historic Preservation Commission's work over the next several years. The plan aims to protect places and stories that define Wildwood's character.
