📜 Rockwood Students Uncover Local History Gems

Lauren Meitz from Eureka High and Alina Rodriguez from Marquette High are organizing historic artifacts, testing new record-keeping systems, and learning about the many aspects of preserving local history for future generations.

🚌 Ameren Proposes E-Buses, Filters to Clear Air

In an ongoing legal battle, Ameren and the U.S. Department of Justice are at odds over how the utility company should atone for over a decade of illegal air pollution from its Rush Island power plant. Ameren has proposed purchasing electric buses and high-grade air filters, but the two sides disagree on the quantities needed to offset the pollution's impact.

🚧 Legends Pkwy Utility Work to Begin Today

The city has announced that beginning today, utility work on Legends Parkway will result in traffic shifts and potential delays. The project will start with the closure of the north side of the Parkway, shifting both lanes of traffic to the south side of the median for approximately 3-4 days. Once work on the north side is complete, the south side will close for another 3-4 days.

🌿 Last Call: Eureka Storm Debris Removal

The city has put out a reminder to residents that curb-side storm clean-up will conclude this week. Public Works Department crews will be collecting any remaining storm-related yard waste and branches left at the curb until Friday. Residents should ensure they place any lingering debris out for removal before the deadline.

🏋️ Timbers Fitness Strength Area Reopens Aug 1

The Eureka Parks and Recreation Department has completed a six-week renovation of the Timbers’ fitness strength area. The space now features brand-new strength equipment. The upgraded fitness area is set to officially reopen on tomorrow at 5am.

🐔 Manchester Mulls New Rules for Backyard Chickens

The city of Manchester is considering updating its regulations on backyard chickens and is seeking input from residents. Currently, hens are allowed on properties of at least two acres without a permit or limit on numbers, provided they are housed 150 feet from the property line. Residents are encouraged to fill out the city’s survey here by Sept. 1 to share their thoughts on the potential changes.
